OUR THERAPISTS
ELIZABETH DEPONTO MS, OTR/L - FOUNDER
You can call me Liz. I grew up in New York City and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and dance from Adelphi University. I later received my Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University.
I have worked as a pediatric OT in school and home settings since 2008. Through these experiences, I have worked closely with many families and have learned the power of collaboration. My goal is always to foster independence in the children I work with and to empower parents/caregivers to be active members in their child’s therapeutic process.
My passion for educating has grown stronger through various experiences. As an adjunct professor at Long Island University for 7 years, I gained invaluable experience in educating about sensory processing, behavioral techniques, and the therapeutic process. Educating others has reinvigorated me and allowed me to share my passion for OT in a truly meaningful way.
Some of my most profound work has been with a non-profit organization to provide sustainable therapy and design training materials for children with disabilities and their caregivers in developing countries. I have also gained a wealth of cultural competence through these experiences that continues to drive my professional practice.
CATHERINE MIRANDA MS, OTR/L
Hello, I’m Catherine. I started as an undergraduate musical theater major at NYU but I accidentally stumbled into the graduate level occupational therapy building… and stayed! I graduated as valedictorian with an MS in OT from NYU and have loved the field ever since. My clinical experiences include almost 2 decades of school based work, home care, and sensory gym experiences with a focus on child centered learning and caregiver collaboration. In addition to being a licensed and registered NY state OT, I hold an advanced 800 hour certification to teach yoga, and I enjoy integrating the overlapping areas of knowledge and practice to meet individual goals. Areas of interest include sensory integration, motor learning theory, and individualized activity analysis to support ongoing success in the areas that are most important to your life. I believe that along with knowledge, compassion is a superpower to make a good clinician, and I live by the motto that the best way to uplift our own lives is to do all we can to uplift the lives of others.
“Our prime purpose in this life
is to help others.”
